1. Introduction

Future Leaders Academy ("FLA") is dedicated to protecting the privacy and safety of children engaged in our educational programming. This COPPA Compliance Policy outlines our adherence to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and provides transparency to schools, districts, educators, parents, and guardians regarding our data practices and privacy safeguards.

2. Scope of Application

This policy applies to all Educational Institutions, including schools, districts, and approved educational partners, that enroll students in grades K through 12, with a particular focus on learners ages 5 to 13, in alignment with COPPA protections. These terms govern participation in both in-person and virtual components of the Future Leaders Academy program.

3. Information We Collect

We only collect limited personal information necessary to deliver and support our educational activities. Information may include:

First name or school-assigned username

Grade level

School name, class, and teacher identifiers

Student work (written responses, creative submissions, drawings, videos, etc.)

Voice or video submissions used in educational projects

Basic behavioral data (engagement, attendance, achievement badges)

We do not collect or require:

Student last names

Home addresses or phone numbers

Personal email addresses

Geolocation data

Persistent identifiers (beyond session-based tokens required for secure access)

4. How Information is Used

All student information is used exclusively for educational purposes, including:

Facilitating and personalizing learning experiences

Monitoring student progress and engagement

Enabling communication between students and educators

Awarding digital recognition (certificates, badges, achievements)

We do not use any student data for commercial marketing, advertising, or profiling.

5. Parental Consent and School Authorization

In accordance with COPPA, schools and districts may act as authorized agents for parents and guardians in granting consent for student data collection within an educational setting. All participating Educational Institutions agree to:

Secure all necessary parental consents before enrollment

Ensure compliance with federal and local privacy requirements

6. Data Protection and Security

FLA implements comprehensive technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to ensure the security of all collected information, including:

Encrypted data storage

Role-based access controls

Secure communication protocols

Internal audit and monitoring procedures

Access is limited strictly to authorized FLA personnel and service providers.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Student data is retained only for the duration necessary to fulfill programmatic and educational purposes, typically aligned with the academic year. Upon program completion or written request by an Educational Institution, all identifiable student data will be securely deleted.

8. Third-Party Service Providers

FLA partners with select third-party platforms to enhance learning delivery, engagement analysis, and secure infrastructure. All third-party vendors must:

Comply with COPPA and FLA privacy terms

Handle data only within the scope of services provided

Demonstrate adequate data protection certifications or practices

9. Parent and Guardian Rights

Parents and legal guardians have the right to:

Access the personal information collected about their child

Request correction or deletion of such information

Withdraw consent for further data collection
